This is an onsite/ hybrid( Preferred) or remote position eligible; candidate must be available to work 15 hours a week during the following days/times: Monday-Friday 8AM-6PM EST. The position will start August 2023 thru December 2023*. *date subject to change

The Research Division focuses on every aspect of the economy, from the local to the international level. At the Atlanta Fed, studies range from analyzing rural banking markets in the Southeast to designing and testing economic forecasting models used in policy making.

SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT

Economic Survey Center– Selected students will be cold calling firms decision makers to solicit their participation in one of multiple national survey efforts administered by the Atlanta Fed’s Economic Survey Research Center. The data collected in these surveys are used to help better inform monetary policymakers on firm’s expectations and key concerns.

Retail Payments Risk Forum- Selected students will be conducting recruitment of depository and financial institutions, major card networks, payments processors, and card issuers through data submission and validation activities as part of the Federal Reserve Payments Study administered by the Atlanta Fed’s Retail Payments Risk Forum in partnership with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

The Federal Reserve Payments Study, which began in 2001, filled a significant gap in quantitative information on U.S. noncash payments by providing a reliable and transparent non-mandatory approach to surveying payment institutions, constructing U.S. domestic total estimates from the survey data, and publishing them. The strategic direction includes a focus on meeting the evolving needs of payment system users for end-to-end payment speed, efficiency, and security, while remaining true to a longstanding mission to foster the integrity, efficiency, and accessibility of the U.S. payment system.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, preferably in economics or finance.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
