FinePrint Data is offering part- and full-time data journalism internships focused on the investment behavior of elected officials. The intern will report to FinePrint’s data journalism editor and will be embedded with the data science team.
If you’re interested in advancing our mission, gaining applied experience in data journalism, and being a valuable contributor to our team, then this is the position for you. In particular, you will gain experience digging through government records, analyzing and cleaning data, creating interactive data visualizations, interfacing with numerous databases, polishing prose, and revealing untold, politically meaningful stories.
The internship includes ongoing training, immediate participation in coding projects, excellent networking opportunities, and professional instruction in how to manage projects start to finish in a detail-oriented manner, all while balancing multiple responsibilities with firm deadlines. We’re looking for candidates who are smart, hardworking, and interested in enhancing the quality of politics in the United States. Good communication, intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, and a solutions-oriented attitude are all traits that we value. Last, it is necessary that applicants come prepared to join a team that includes individuals with different skill sets, expertise, and backgrounds.
This internship is for the Summer – starting and ending dates are flexible.
