Note: this is remote position. Hourly pay rate with bonus potential factored in from $30 to $45 per hour. Minimum number of 10 hours per week during the semester; possibility of more hours during the summer of 2022.
Fluent Knowledge, a start-up media company initially focused on podcasts, is looking for one or two a grad school level research consultants in the following areas of study:
Political science, especially state level legislative politics; election law; political party dynamics; and political polarization/partisanship;
Law/legal studies, especially election law and constitutional law.
Media Studies with regard to balkanization of cable/tv and polarizing algorithms of social media facilitating spread of misinformation and affective polarization.
This part-time opportunity involves brainstorming topics, researching podcast topics and guests, fact checking scripts, writing and editing of articles for in-house and external publication, promoting episodes, and possibly assisting on research for a book length project.
Our first podcast, The Purple Principle, was favorably reviewed the NYT (on 10/4/20) as a top “Civics” podcast and placed on Stitcher’s Election 2020 Showcase. An affinity for independent-minded politics, or experience living and working in red, blue and purple areas of the US is extremely helpful in addition to a rigorously objective, fact-based approach to our subject matter.
Previous guests have included influential authors and scholars (Thomas Nichols, Abigail Marsh, Omar Ali) current and former legislators (Carlos Curbello, Jason Altmire), non partisan political reform leaders ( Trevor Potter, Charles, as well film and tv creators and prominent journalists among others.
