One of the busiest courts in Massachusetts, Natick/Framingham offers interns the
opportunity to become directly involved in a broad range of legal and administrative
matters that come up in the courthouse on a daily basis. The District Court/Trial Division
environment affords an intern a hands-on approach in the analysis and docketing of;
criminal, civil, small claims, summary process and supplementary process cases. An
intern will be exposed to motor vehicle law cases, mental health hearing procedure as
well as restraining order processes and procedures common to all district courts.
Every intern will be expected to be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner
and will be held to the same standards of strict confidentiality afforded to all litigants and
defendants in these court matters. An intern will have the opportunity to docket, file and
aid in the courtroom whenever possible and with appropriate supervision. In addition, the
intern may be called upon to draft correspondence, track pending legislation, and to
otherwise assist the clerk staff with their duties. An intern can expect to be trained in
many of the areas required of a Case Specialist position.
