Paid ReNew Democracy Fellowship Jan 2026 – Sept 2026

The future of our democracy and the economy it shapes depend on enacting bold policies that reflect the input and perspective of the diversity of our communities. Unfortunately, too many qualified, potential leaders are blocked by systemic inequities from ever having the chance to work in the halls of Congress.

The ReNew Democracy Foundation seeks to open doors for a diversity of new voices from across the country who want to make a difference in pragmatic, solutions-oriented, center-left congressional offices and supports these emerging leaders with a $5,500 monthly salary, professional development opportunities, mentorship, and networking through the ReNew Democracy Fellowship. Fellows will be employed by the ReNew Democracy Foundation and placed in a U.S. House of Representatives office from January 5, 2026 to September 25, 2026.

For nine months, ReNew Democracy Fellows will work side-by-side with Members of Congress and their staff on legislative initiatives, meetings with stakeholders, and research. Each fellow will learn overall congressional procedure, dynamics of the House, and focus on a key issue area (examples: housing, health care, or technology). They will also participate in professional and personal development programming, including the NextGen New Dem Staff Academy, workshops, and a capstone project.

Eligibility

To apply, applicants must:

  • Be lawfully authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer. ReNew Democracy is unable to sponsor Fellows for temporary visas.
  • Complete an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in the U.S. or territories by December 31, 2025.
  • Be able to relocate to the Washington, DC, area by January 4, 2026, and reside in the area for the duration of the fellowship.
  • Be able to participate in person full-time for the duration of the fellowship.
  • Demonstrate academic aptitude.
  • Demonstrate an interest in a career in policy and public service.

If you have any questions, please contact fellowships.at.renewdemocracyfoundation.org.

Applications close on June 29, 2025 at 11:59pm PT.
