South Bronx United’s College Advisory Interns work closely with SBU’s Director of College
Guidance and Alumni to help coordinate and supervise the College Prep Program. Interns work
3 days per week and get hands on experience administering an educational program, tracking
student progress towards college, and advising students on academic needs. The internship is
perfect for those looking to gain experience in the fields of educational administration and

Enthusiastic and caring with a specific interest in education and youth empowerment. Should have a background in working with youth.
A minimum of 3 days a week for one semester (NY public school semester, not college). 5:30pm – 8:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays is required. 3rd day is flexible.
All interns will receive training from our Director of College Guidance and Alumni.
While the position is unpaid, interns have the opportunity to work directly with our Director of College Guidance and Education Director to learn firsthand best practices for ensuring a pathway to college for all students.
Responsibilities in Detail:
- Track program attendance and progress of all students
- Family outreach/student outreach to improve student attendance at programs
- Manage procurement and entry of student records and documents(transcripts, report cards, tax returns, waivers)
- Research important college prep resources needed for each student (relevant scholarships, trade schools, additional SAT Prep & Regents Prep resources, GED options)
