In her role as a Grants and Fiscal Compliance at the Massachusetts Service Alliance, Sybelle provides support in the following areas: managing logistics of grant application processes, working with sub grantees to ensure their accounting systems and procedures meet federal compliance standards, and managing databases and communications as they relate to sub grantees and assisting with Accounts Payable processes.
Sybelle says: My UMass SBS education gave me a great foundation to build on. I was equipped with tools and knowledge that can be applied to any industry. My advice to students would be to get out of your comfort zone and to not be discouraged. Because of my well rounded experiences, I had a lot of examples to pull for my interviews and I was able to get into the industry I wanted.
While at UMass, Sybelle:
- studied abroad in Paris
- completed 3 internships; one with an international development government agency, one with a nonprofit, and the last with an international accounting firm (see her Linkedin profile for specifics).
