Apply for Scholarships

Academic Works is UMass' tool for awarding scholarships. Scholarships can be distributed on the University, college, or departmental level. This tool uses your Spire data to curate a list for you or to apply to awards automatically.

Set Up: Complete (or update) the General Application and your College Application(s). With the General Application submitted, the Financial Aid Office is able to auto-match you with any relevant opportunities. You will be notified if you qualify.

Academic Works also generates a list of “recommended opportunities” based on what it knows about you from Spire (like your class year, or your major). You should read each award to see if the opportunity is a good match. With the General and College Applications complete, the rest of the process is streamlined. Any additional materials you are asked to submit will be unique to the particular award.

While logging into Academic Works is the best way to learn about scholarships and awards, you can find more SBS information linked here and departmental sites may also be helpful.
