Public Relations Intern
Are you thrilled by the idea of helping awesome brands create and then spread their message (while selling more product)? Do you want to learn shortcuts to devising winning client branding strategies and successful PR campaigns? Do you feel you have something to share in terms of how brands can best leverage social and other platforms to better reach today’s consumer? If you answered yes to these 3 questions then keep reading! (If not, that’s cool. We’re not for everyone.)
Join me for this seasonal internship and get real, hands-on PR/marketing experience at a boutique female-owned and lead PR collaborative. You will be treated as a valued team member and will have access to work directly on client campaigns. The position is 100% remote. Occasional lunches (either in person or virtual) could be a thing… if you want them to be!
Hats you’ll wear: publicist, designer, detective, creator, analyst and more! While our speciality is PR, we are really in the business of solving our clients marketing challenges and helping them achieve their business goals. This means we have to color outside the lines sometimes! You’ll be encouraged to do so.
As a PR intern you’ll work closely with me (a self-described pirate with a heart of gold) to take both our agency and our clients’ businesses to the next level. You’ll receive ongoing support and direction, but I won’t give you all the answers. You’ll be encouraged to be an independent thinker and bring your own solutions to the table. You’ll have the opportunity to be in the field. Our work is directly affected by the current news, economy and consumer attitude which means we plan, but have to be flexible. It also means everyday is different! This is true from the work we do for large national consumer brands to smaller B2B organizations. One thing I can guarantee, all of our work requires creativity and all of our clients do something that matters.
Commitment: 16 – 20 hours per week. Days of the week are flexible.
Pay: Unpaid internship. Class credit available and optional.
Tech required: computer with video & audio capabilities (for Zoom.)
Sample skills you’ll be able to put on your resume after we work together:
• Participated in campaign concepting. Contributed ideas to real client campaigns
• Management of key marketing channels for agency including contributing to website content and leading social media content creation
• Built media lists via media database software (Cision)
• Crafted media pitches that were used in client campaigns
• Wrote press releases that ultimately were distributed via a national newswire
• Practiced in conducting both brand and competitive audits.
• Proficient in campaign measurement tactics from clipping to analysis to reporting
You don’t have previous PR experience? That’s ok. Here’s what matters:
• You love animals. Specifically dogs. (j/k…not really though)
• You believe good client service matters and rep yourself 100% in everything you do
• You have an insatiable appetite for learning and enjoy solving puzzles
• You work well independently, but enjoy having a partner in crime
• You have strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
