Carlos Pereira’23 Political Science

Carlos Pereira’23, Political Science began his post-UMass career as the direct manager of 101 associates at an Amazon Fulfillment Center, where he scheduled associates, approved time off, planned shifts, delivered write ups and terminations, accommodated employee needs, coached employees on standard work tips and safety protocol, and ‘messed around with excel sheets’.  He then moved into the next level manager role, where he led a team of over 200 associates, optimized operational efficiencies, and leveraged data-driven insights to improve key performance metrics. During this time, Carlos realized his passion is for data and strategy, and he is planning to pivot from Operations to a role in the financial sector, and has studied for and passed the Massachusetts Life and Health Insurance exams.
