Shane Roye is a senior majoring in Social Thought and Political Economy at UMass, and graduated from Sharon High School in 2020. He joined the Black Lives Matter Club (2019-2020) in high school, working on curriculum changes, professional development, and supporting students of color.

After initially majoring in Industrial Engineering at Hofstra University in 2020, Shane transferred to UMass Amherst in 2021, where he discovered his passion for social work and switched to the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS). In 2023, Shane was named an SBS RISE Diversity Fellow. His mission is to empower marginalized voices, and as a second-generation Cuban and Jamaican, he aims to create safe and inclusive spaces for all UMass students.
